What makes The Ultimate Corfu Flavors Tour unique?
Corfu boasts a diverse range of locally produced goods. Some of them are valuable traditional Corfiot items, and this journey allows us to learn about the most well-known.
The Ultimate Corfu Flavors Tour Itinerary
The first stop on our delightful journey is the Tsitsibira (Ginger-beer) factory, a well-known Heptanesian (Seven Islands) refreshment since the British administration. Today, only Corfu produces wine of the Ionian Islands.
Made with lemon juice, natural lemon essence, high grade powdered ginger, white raisins, water, and sugar, the historical refreshment is now manufactured by a tiny family-run business on the island, which 'kneads' it in its caldrons.
As we travel through Ropa Valley, we stop at the Theotoki Estate, the winery of one of Corfu's oldest families and one of the island's most natural and tranquil sites.
There, we will be given a 20-minute tour of the winery facilities and cellar, as well as a full explanation of the wine and olive oil manufacturing processes. The trip closes with a wine tasting and brief lunch at the Estate.
We continue our journey to Mavromatis kumquat distillery, a family-run enterprise that specializes in kumquat liqueurs and sweets in jars made from the distinctive kumquat.
The amazing machinery of the historic distillery is on display in a well-organized showroom, as is a video projector that shows all phases of the creation of kumquat liqueurs and sweets. Free time to sample and purchase things.
Our last destination on our delicious excursion is a rustic tavern serving traditional Greek fare.
The tavern's butcher shop is just next door and offers a broad selection of fresh meats, cheeses, and cold cuts. We may go shopping or just choose anything that appeals to us, and the pub will grill it for us.
