Flavours of Athens Tour In Detail

Athens food is a variety blend of old and new, traditional and modern, and this tour will help you to reveal all these delicious aspects.

Your tour will start by meeting us at Kotzia Square, a charming square in the heart of Athens, surrounded by stunning neoclassical buildings of the early 19th century, as well as some ruins from the ancient times.

As the modern Greeks like to do every morning, you’ll enjoy a Greek coffee or a cold Greek frappe before you start exploring Athens. Then, you’ll venture into Athens central market which has been operating for more than a hundred years. Enjoy one of Europe’s most unique marketplaces and get the opportunity to talk to vendors and see all the fresh produce.

We will help you discover the best of the Central Market showing you a variety of delicious Greek specialties in places that don’t see many tourists. Sample various local tastes such as koulouri (a round-shaped bread with sesame seeds), feta, olives, olive oil, honey, cheese, and many more.

Next, you’ll visit unique small family-owned businesses located around the historical center and the ancient Agora, the very same place where Ancient Greeks like Pericles, Aristotle, and Platon used to stroll around.

Then, we will share a “meze” platter (local tapas) and enjoy unique cheeses, savory pies, Greek pastries, and traditional dips in a local-favorite deli. Later, you’ll have the opportunity to taste our traditional spirits and local wines at a rooftop bar with views over Athens’ most famous landmark, the Acropolis, while you’ll end your experience in the sweetest way by enjoying one of Greece’s oldest sweets, Loukoumades.

Your tour will come to an end at Monastiraki Square where you can continue your own exploration, or we can give you directions on how to get back to your hotel. Before we part ways, don’t forget to ask us for more hints and tips on how to get the best of your trip to amazing Athens.
