Omonia Square, Athens Greece

We meet at Omonoia square, which is one of the oldest and most central squares in Athens. We start our walk by going to Exarcheia, which is the most alternative and controversial neighborhood in Athens. It is full of professional and student life and is rich in history and culture. 

Duration: 10 minutes

School of Architecture, National Technical University of Athens

Our first stop will be at the historic building of Polytechnio, which is part of the National Technical University of Athens. This building has a lot of great and exciting stories to tell about the modern history of Greece.

Duration: 20 minutes

Exarchia Square

As we walk deeper into Exarcheia's streets, we'll learn more about the neighborhood's culture and spirit. We'll also talk about how Exarcheia has changed since the early 19th century, its role in the Second World War, and its history and culture today. We'll also see a lot of the neighborhood's street art and visit an amazing hill with a great view of the city. After that, we'll take a short break at a popular coffee or tea shop in the area.

Vallianeio Megaron

Then we'll stop in front of the Academy of Athens, the University of Athens, and the National Library of Greece on the famous Panepistimiou and Stadiou streets, which are also called the Trilogy of Athens buildings. We'll talk about their past and the history of the area around them, as well as what they mean to Athens today.

National History Museum (Old Parliament)

Our tour ends at the old parliament building and the area around it, which is known for its hippie and modern shops and cozy bars. If you want any more information or tips on how to explore Athens like a local, we'll be happy to give them to you!
